MANILA, Philippines – Keith Thurman chooses Errol Spence to defeat Manny Pacquiao in their highly anticipated clash on August 21 in Las Vegas.
The former welterweight champion, who lost his WBA (Super) title to Pacquiao in July 2019, believes Spence’s size and youth, coupled with his elite skills, will make the difference in the fight.
“I respect Pacquiao but I’m still in favor of Spence,” Thurman told FightHype.com.
“The size, the youth and ultimately, when was the last time we saw Pacquiao against a world class southpaw? “
Thurman, however, also doesn’t count 42-year-old Pacquiao.
“But I’m not saying Pacquiao is beside himself,” Thurman said. “He’s a legend for a reason.”
“His number one attribute is that speed and that power and that entry, those awkward little angles with that burst of energy, you know, I think that’s something Errol hasn’t seen in his career.”
Pacquiao showed it against Thurman en route to a split decision victory.
“I hope he comes with all the enthusiasm he did in the performance against me because that’s what I take his hat off to. He fought a good fight, he fought smart and he ended up getting ahead of me. Will he be able to do that against Spence? I don’t know, ”Thurman said.
