After a wild and thrilling first round, the Stanley Cup playoffs continue with the second round as all four divisions prepare to crown their champions.

There will be eight teams remaining to compete for the 2021 Stanley Cup. There are perennial contenders such as the Boston Bruins, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Vegas Golden Knights. The New York Islanders give the Nassau Coliseum a hell of a farewell in the final season of The Old Barn. It’s been 20 years since the Colorado Avalanche, winner of the Presidents’ Trophy, won a Cup; is this their year?

Don’t rule out the Carolina Hurricanes and coach Rod Brind’Amour, a competitor to Jack Adams. The club won the last Cup 15 years ago and are running at full speed. 2021 NHL Qualifiers: TV Channels, Live Stream

The 2021 playoffs will mark the final year that the NBC family of networks will broadcast the NHL’s journey to the Stanley Cup. The second round matches will be broadcast on NBC channels in the United States, while in Canada, the matches will be broadcast on Sportsnet, CBC and TVA Sports.

How will the NHL playoffs work in 2021?

Here’s a quick look at how the 2021 playoffs work, with each series being best of seven:

  • Four teams from each division advanced to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The first round clashes are No.1 against No.4 and No.2 against No.3 in each division.
  • The first round winners of each division will compete to determine the division champion.
  • Once the four division winners are crowned, they will face off in the Stanley Cup semifinals. The standings for this round will be based on the points total for the regular season.
  • The winners of the semi-finals will meet in the Stanley Cup Final.
