MANILA, Philippines — The University of Santo Tomas secured the hiring of young Gilas member, Jordi Gomez de Liaño, ahead of season 84 of the UAA.
The Varsitarian, the school’s official student publication, reported the development on Thursday.
De Liaño, the younger brother of Juan and Javi of the University of the Philippines, had a strong personal campaign for the Junior Maroons despite going 1-13 in season 82.
The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 13 points with 4.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his last season with UP Integrated School.
De Liaño was supposed to dress Gilas Pilipinas’ youth during the 2019 Fiba Asian Under-16 Championship in Beirut, Lebanon, but that event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
