MANILA, Philippines — Skateboarder Margielyn Didal officially secured her spot at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics thanks to her place in the world rankings for sport.
World Skate, the international governing body for all roller skating sports, announced the skateboarders who would compete in the Tokyo Games on Thursday and Didal was one of 20 female athletes chosen for the street event.
Margielyn Didal’s qualification for the Tokyo Olympics is OFFICIAL, as announced by World Skate. She participates in the street test.

Didal is the 17th street skater in the world in the World Skate ranking.
“Kudos to all the skateboarders who put it all in this,” World Skate posted on Facebook.
The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist became the 10th Filipina to be part of the Philippine contingent at the Summer Games as she joins boxers Eumir Marcial, Carlo Paalam, Nesthy Petecio, Irish Magno, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz gymnast Carlos Yulo, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, rower Cris Nievarez and taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa.
This will be the first time that skateboarding has featured in the world’s biggest sporting event which runs from July 23 to August 8.
