Vikings like to have competition for cornerback jobs

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer called up the team’s defense in 2020 the worst he already coached at the end of last season and their attempt to improve him included several cornerback additions.

they signed Patrick peterson, Bashaud Breeland, Mackensie alexander, Parry nickerson, Tye Smith and Amari Henderson to join a group that includes Kris boyd, Cameron Dantzler, Jeff Gladney, Harrison hand and Dylan mabin. Defensive co-coordinator Andre Patterson noted that the players they brought add experience to a young group as a positive development.

Fellow co-ordinator Adam Zimmer said getting some practice time on the pitch was another plus, and Patterson has found a third of it in the job battle that looms over the summer.

“Competition make everyone betterPatterson said, via the team’s website. “Competition makes everyone compete and make everyone strive to improve because they are all fighting for a job, and for me, what we have right now in high school… And it will make everyone improve. This will allow everyone to see who is improving and the cream will rise to the top. So, for me, that’s how you improve, when you have a lot of competition.

The cornerback place wasn’t the only weak spot on the Defense of the Vikings last year, but this is the one where the Vikings hope quantity leads to quality.
