MANILA, Philippines — Filipino artist Roberto Gomez made it through to the round of 16 at the World Billiards Championship, losing his last game to Skyler Woodward, 11-5, at Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England.
Gomez had a 5-2 lead over the American but lost all of his momentum, allowing Woodward to tie him at 7-7.
Woodward went on to secure the next four baskets to advance to the quarter-finals, but lost to future Austrian champion Albin Ouschan, 11-5.
Gomez won his two preliminaries first with a narrow 9-8 victory over Englishman Stewart Colclough.

Interestingly, Gomez beat Ouschan in the winners’ qualifier 9-7.
Gomez went on to have quick wins over South African Muhammed Daydat, 11-2, in the last 64 and Singaporean Aloysius Yapp, 11-7, in the last 32.
