The Rockies have reestablished the shortstop Trevor’s story of the injured list from 10 days before tonight’s game against the Marlins. He’s back in the starting lineup, reaching fourth place in sequence. infielder Alain Trejo was offered as an option to Triple-A Albuquerque to create an active list space. The story has been out since May 28 due to inflammation of the right elbow.
The Rockies are surely happy to welcome their top player back into the fold, but the club’s biggest goal out of contention is Story’s impending free agency. The 28-year-old is among the best players should hit the open market in a few months. Certainly looks like Story will not end up re-signing with the Rockies, making him one of the most likely players to change teams this summer. MLBTR’s Steve Adams ranked Story # 2 in best sales candidates last week, only behind his teammate Jon gray.
It hasn’t been a record season so far for Story. He had only left at a start of .255 / .322 / .424 before switching to IL. Either way, there will be a lot of interest from competitors as the deadline approaches thanks to its strong track record. Between 2018-20, he hit an impressive .292 / .355 / .545 with 83 home runs in 1,571 home plate appearances.
