Nicola Sturgeon digs cheekily at the England football team as she congratulates them on Germany’s victory

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon congratulated England on their victory over Germany in the round of 16 of the European Championship.

But, FM made sure she dug a cheeky Scotland while sending her a congratulatory message.

She wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations! @England (Only one team is still undefeated @ EURO2020)”.

Then she included a Scottish flag emoji and a winking face in her message.

Earlier this month, Steve Clarke’s men managed to secure a single point in their group after a heroic 0-0 draw against England, meaning they are the only team unbeaten for England in the tournament.

Scotland’s time at Euro 2020 ended abruptly, as the men’s team failed to beat Croatia at Hampden Park last week.

The competition was the first time that the team qualified for a major tournament since the 1998 World Cup in France.

But many Scots appear to have been disappointed by England’s 2-0 win tonight as many threw their support behind Germany.

England’s 2-0 win sees them qualify for the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.

Searches for the “top of Germany” and the “German flag” in Scotland have reached a peak since Wednesday, June 26, just hours after it was announced that England will face England.

Google states that at least 100 searches for “Germany shirt”, “Germany top” and “Germany flag” have been made by people in Scotland.

Another 83 Scots were also searching for the German flag on Tuesday morning, and the searches peaked as early as 8am.
