This is IDAI advice for parents if their child has symptoms of Covid-19

Jakarta, – Indonesian Pediatricians Association (IDAI) President Aman Bhakti Bulongan advises parents if they feel their child has symptoms of Covid-19.

Under the current circumstances, Aman said, parents should consult a pediatrician.

He said the consultation can be done over the phone, chat and video calls without the need to take the child to the hospital.

“If possible, at this time all families are in contact with doctors, pediatricians and GPs, so if there is an emergency if it is mild, don’t go to the hospital. The hospital is currently full,” Aman said on IDAI’s Instagram. “Kupas Complete School Opening Plan” live broadcast, Tuesday (29/6/2021).

After consulting the doctor, Aman said, parents should accompany their children and take care of them as per the instructions given by the doctor.

He also asked parents not to only give the drug to their children, without a doctor’s recommendation.

“Don’t give weird stuff to kids,” he said, “because there are a lot of hoax groups in Washington, so there’s somebody giving the wrong medicine to kids.”

Furthermore, Aman said, parents do not need to fear excessively when their child tests positive for Covid-19.

He said Covid-19 in children can be managed well through self-isolation and regular consultations with doctors.

And he concluded, “We recommend this (children’s medicine) at home, firstly, vitamin D, and secondly vitamin C, zinc, these are the only three drugs that have scientific recommendations, and also provide hot medicines at home and oximeter of course.”
