Five men have been indicted in the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old girl in Florida
A Hillsborough County jury formally indicted Zvante Sampson, 30; Quandarious Hammond, 28; Jaylen Bedward, 22 years old; James Denson, 24 years old; and Andrew Thompson, 22 years old. They were detained by the US Marshals Fugitives Regional Task Force in Florida, according to a Tampa police press release.
All five face charges of premeditated murder, attempted first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and a vehicle shooting. The indictment also accuses Hammond and Sampson of attempting to kill a third victim in the case, as well as Hammond, Thompson and Denson of firing a firearm from a car in public.
Tampa police said the girl, Sonny Bell, was in a car with her mother on the night of August 22 when another car pulled up next to them and opened fire. Officials said the woman crashed and then discovered that her daughter had been shot. The girl was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators have not publicly revealed why the mother and daughter were attacked.
Prison records did not mention a lawyer for the men accused of the shooting.
