Custodio’s news comes just over a month after she split from her ex-husband, Michael Jessen, on the former couple’s two-year wedding anniversary.

“Today is only our second wedding anniversary and unfortunately our last,” wrote Jessen with a photo of the couple’s wedding. “Our marriage is a Covid-19 victim that will not appear in any statistics. Fortunately, you will soon come out healthier and stronger than ever. Some of us will probably stay in intensive care for quite some time.”

Jessen added that the couple’s “situation” during the pandemic had “drained him completely empty.”

“I didn’t have the strength of mind and determination to be the husband you wanted me to be,” he wrote. “The stress and pressure to take care of everyone got the better of me and I wasn’t taking care of myself.”

In her own post, Custodio wrote a long letter back to Jessen. She started by saying that although the COVID-19 pandemic played a part in their split, “we all know there are more” [reasons] than that.

The pandemic was “a rough time” for Custodio, she said, but “the hardest thing for me was to imagine yourself as someone who would be by my side, and unfortunately you showed something completely different.”

Custodio wrote that her situation had become “toxic” and she decided she needed to return to Europe and pursue her modeling career. “I am happy with the new phase and I ask you to let me go,” she wrote.

She concluded her message by encouraging others who are unhappy in their relationship to “stand up for yourself.”

Jessen and Custodio first appeared in season seven of 90 day fiance in 2019. The couple met at a yacht party in Croatia and got engaged a short time later. Jessen’s ex-wife, Sarah, led the couple’s wedding.
