Tickets for the popular event can fetch at least $30,000, and they attract some of the most influential players in fashion, film, and culture. Rappaport seemed to be particularly dealing with the politician – who he said should be a “civil servant” – dealing with the luminaries.

He posted on Instagram: “Custom TAX THE RICH Dress while at the world’s most elite event.” He posted theories about her future plans: “AOC’s soon going to get rich with a huge production deal out of somewhere and done with politics, make sure of that. Stop treating any of these people like celebrities, they’re government employees and they work for us.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not immediately respond to an email from Fox News. Her supporters have taken to Twitter to praise her for making the bold statement on such a high-profile platform. The New York Democratic candidate posted on Twitter: “The means is the message.”
