Arsenal striker informed about Villa and Leeds goal

Aston Villa have been linked with a surprise move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketia.

Journalist Akram Connor reports that Villa and Premier League rivals Brentford and Leeds United are showing interest in the player.

Pointy, 22, has struggled to make his mark in the Premier League, and his contract expires at the end of the summer.

Arsenal have reportedly set a £20m price tag on Nketiah as clubs in and out of the Premier League chased him during the summer transfer window.

He’s been limited to one Arsenal appearance this season, the 3-0 Wimbledon defeat in the Carabao Cup earlier this month.

The former Leeds United player on loan was not part of Arsenal’s squad this season, but he made 29 appearances last season, scoring six goals.

Confessed by Dean Smith Buendia

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith claims he has solid depth in the squad ahead of Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Villa coach indicated that having the luxury of bringing Emiliano Buendia, who holds the club’s record in the second half of the victory over Manchester United last time, demonstrates the strength of his team.

Buendia replaced striker Danny Ings at Old Trafford and almost made an immediate impact with the help of Jacob Ramsey late in the game but the midfielder lost his footing after being picked up by Buendia inside the penalty area.

Ahead of Villa’s trip to Tottenham Nuno Espirito Santo Santo Santo on Sunday, Smith hinted that Ings and attacking partner Ole Watkins would not play every game with the former Brentford boss who has many options available within his squad.

Watkins and Mings earn Three Lions calls

Aston Villa striker Oli Watkins has been named to the England squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions continue their quest to reach the World Cup in Qatar next month with matches on Saturday in the week and the following Tuesday.

Watkins returns to the England fold after being called up in March, when he scored a goal on his debut against San Marino, and in the Euro 2020 preliminaries in June.

Now he’s back in the fold at the expense of Patrick Bamford with the Leeds United striker missing out on the last squad.

Watkins is fit again after starting the season with a bruised knee and has played every minute of Villa’s last three games, even though he has yet to score in the Premier League.

Tyrone Mings has also been included in the squad, with the Villa captain now a mainstay in England camps having taken the captain’s armband from Jack Grealish following his move to Manchester City in the summer.

FIA and Liverpool fans agree on Solskjaer’s question

Aston Villa fans spotted a strange moment during Manchester United’s victory over Villarreal in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

United needed the winning goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time to defeat their Spanish guest at Old Trafford, as Cristiano Ronaldo scored his fifth goal on his return to Manchester.

It was created by Jesse Lingard, who appeared to foul Villarreal goalkeeper Jeronimo Rulli while Ronaldo scored in the net.

United’s last Premier League game, after the 1-0 defeat to Villa on Saturday, saw Courtney Howes score the winning goal in the 88th minute.

The Red Devils coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considered this goal controversial, as he said that the Devils’ header should have been canceled for offside because when Mans hit the goal, Ole Watkins was in front of David de Gea in an offside position.

United’s goal and the possibility of an offside call were not lost on Villa fans, who have taken to social media to ask the question.
