Burrage Road Woolwich: Fire in pub

Firefighters were called to a pub in Woolwich after a blaze broke out this afternoon (25 November).

Part of the ground floor of the three-storey building on Burrage Road, believed to be the Queens Arms, was damaged.

According to the London Fire Brigade, four motorcycles and about 25 firefighters were sent to the scene.

The brigade was called up at 12.45pm and the fire was brought under control by 1.50pm.

Fire brigades from Lee Green, Erith, Eltham and Greenwich fire stations are on the scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters have been called to a fire at a pub on Burrage Road in Woolwich.

“Part of the ground floor of the three-storey building is on fire.

“The brigade was called at 1246.

“Fire crews from Lee Green, Erith, Eltham and Greenwich fire stations are on the scene.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”

The London Fire Brigade initially tweeted: “Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters have been called to reports of a fire on Burrage Road in #Woolwich.

“More information follows.”
