Christina Haack undergoes ‘more procedures to get to the bottom’ of her health problem

While Christina Haack tries to improve her health, she remains positive.

The HGTV star, 38, underwent an endoscopy last month after suffering from “extreme abdominal pain” for years.

Now Haack says she still doesn’t have an answer to her stomach problems, but she’s working to “get to the bottom of it.”

“So far my results have come back well. I’ve followed more procedures to get to the bottom of it,” she tells PEOPLE. “For now, I’ll continue to eat healthy and stay active.”

Haack first told her followers that she struggled with stomach issues in October, revealing on Instagram: “I have been experiencing occasional extreme abdominal pain since 2016. It has written off as stress and doctors have tried me on all the pills/medications but luckily I realized masking wasn’t the answer.”

She added: “I wanted to fix the problem so I really focused on my diet and it seemed to get better, but last year it reactivated and suddenly the stomach ache was back…😖.”

Haack, who has been diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder Hashimoto’s disease, told her followers, “Anxiety can cause major flare-ups and my biggest thing I’ve noticed[d] being affected is my digestive/gut health.”

After finding “the right doctor,” Haack said she underwent a full endoscopy, plus gastrointestinal testing for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, or SIBO, a condition in which excess bacteria “can cause diarrhea and cause weight loss and malnutrition.” ‘, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Haack shared at the time that she was “just praying that everything would be fine and that a few courses of antibiotics will kill any bacteria that are damaging my GI tract,” adding, “I’ve talked to a lot of people about this and just want to advocating the importance of trusting your own health instincts and not ignoring the things that happen in your body.”

Haack, who is engaged to real estate agent Josh Hall, said her fiancé helped her through her health issues. The Christina on the coast star called Hall “the best partner” after taking an overnight trip to get her stomach medication earlier this month.

“My husband. My [king], my protector, my [forever]’ she wrote alongside a photo of Hall posted to Instagram on Nov. 14. Friday night in Florida for a @jacuzziofficialinstagram commercial shoot I had a crazy stomach that flared up and he ran 3 miles at 3am to get me some liquid antacid. We were able to sleep for a few hours and endured two days of shooting. He is the best partner in everything.”
