Danger! participants stunned by Ottawa’s designation offered a free trip to the city

OTTAWA — Two ‘Jeopardy!’ participants, stunned by a clue about Ottawa, have been offered an all-expenses-paid trip to the capital.

The two contestants gasped for the latest Jeopardy clue on Tuesday’s show, which asked, “An annual event called Winterlude includes ice skating on the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in this town.”

The correct answer, of course, was Ottawa. And now Ottawa Tourism invites the two women to experience it for themselves.

“We want to show them what they may have missed,” Michael Crockatt, president and CEO of Ottawa Tourism, said in a press release.

Genesis Whitlock and Amy Schneider are each invited, along with a guest of their choice, to spend three nights in Ottawa during Winterlude.

The offer includes round-trip transportation, hotel accommodation, spending money and “select activities,” according to the Ottawa Tourism release.

Whitlock is from Brooklyn, NY and Schneider is from Oakland, California. Crockatt says Ottawa Tourism “wants to open their eyes to the wonders of the world’s largest naturally frozen ice rink, the incredible flavors of BeaverTails, and the compelling stories held in some of our nation’s best museums.”

Winterlude will run from February 4 to 21 next year.
