Flooding forces Hays CISD to start two hours late Thursday

Hayes County (KXAN) – The Hays Unified Independent School District will begin the school day two hours late Thursday due to flooding caused by heavy rain overnight.

All campuses will start two hours later than usual and all buses at stops will arrive two hours later, said Tim Savoy, Hays CISD’s communications officer. All morning activities have been cancelled.

Savoy said there are more than two dozen low-water crossings throughout the area that run through or are completely submerged. Savoy said the delay would help bus drivers keep off the road during darkness and allow water to drain from the roads.
