Healthy wild rice filling with apples, sage and goji berries

This recipe first appeared alongside our roast turkey at Christmas dinner after my husband and I both decided we didn’t like the traditional bread filling we made over Thanksgiving. Any whole grain will work, but I like the flavor and nuttyness of long grain wild rice.

Interestingly, wild rice isn’t actually rice at all, but a grass that is grown near freshwater and produces a seed that is cooked like rice. Wild rice has about 30 times more antioxidant activity than white rice, as well as much more fiber.
