High blood cholesterol: Symptoms include a white ring on the edge of the cornea

There are many foods that are not only part of a healthy diet, but can actively help lower blood cholesterol as well.

Reducing saturated fats and replacing some of them with unsaturated fats is a great way to lower blood cholesterol, says the cholesterol charity British Heart Association.

Many foods contain saturated fat, especially animal foods such as meat, butter and dairy products, and foods made from them such as cakes and biscuits.

It is also found in some plant foods including coconut oil and palm oil.
