Manchester United are considering a move to Ralf Rangnick if they can’t get Mauricio Pochettino this season

Manchester United are considering an approach for Ralf Rangnick if they cannot drive Mauricio Pochettino away from Paris Saint-Germain during the season.

The search for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ongoing and talkSPORT understand that former Tottenham boss Pochettino is the number 1 choice.

Pochettino reportedly unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain

However, the Argentine has a contract with PSG, meaning Man United could struggle to sign him before the summer.

And talkSPORT understands that the Red Devils will look to hire German Rangnick as their interim boss if that turns out to be the case.

TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook reported at the Northwest Football Awards: “The name on most people’s lips is still Mauricio Pochettino – we know he is very much the man Man United have set their sights on.

“But in terms of an interim, interim manager, if they can’t get Pochettino out of Paris this side of the summer, then maybe Ralf Rangnick could be a live contender, that’s what I’ve heard here.”

Michael Carrick is in charge as the club searches for a new manager until the end of the season, and his first game in charge is a pivotal Champions League clash in Villarreal on Tuesday night, live and exclusively on talkSPORT 2 .

After that, Man United have an arduous journey to Premier League front-runners Chelsea, but their December roster, called ‘easy’ by talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham, looks friendlier to the Red Devils on paper.

Man United matches for December

Arsenal (H) Premier League – December 2

Crystal Palace (H) Premier League – December 5

Young Boys (H) Champions League – December 8

Norwich (A) Premier League – December 11

Brentford (A) Premier League – December 14

Brighton (H) Premier League – December 18

Newcastle (A) Premier League – December 27

Burnley (H) Premier League – December 30

There are 21 points to be had in the Premier League and a win over Young Boys should be enough to qualify for the last 16 no matter what happens at Villarreal.

December is a great opportunity for whoever is in charge of Man United to get the season back on track.
