WALNUT CREEK (KPIX) – On the eve of Election Day, many voters have already mailed their ballots. While some polls give Governor Newsom a double-digit lead, some hope Tuesday will bring a change that they feel the state needs.
The night before the recall, many voters say they are ready for the recall to end.
“I think it’s a continuing Republican embarrassment,” said Walnut Creek’s Michele Thompson.
An estimated 35% of mail-in ballots have been returned and a large number of them have been from Democrats.
On Monday night, Walnut Creek voters headed to the Civic Center to drop off their ballots. His biggest complaint, the cost of the withdrawal expected to be more than $ 250 million.
“I honestly think it’s a waste of money,” said Walnut Creek resident Kathy Waters. “I know people don’t love Gavin and I’m not his biggest fan, but I think it’s a waste of money and we should wait until the next election.”
“With everything that needs to be funded, education, healthcare, homeless, we are wasting all this money,” added Thompson.
Others, however, feel that the withdrawal could be worth every penny.
Walnut Creek resident Frankie Holmes says: “We are excited. We need a change “.
Holmes is fed up with Governor Newsom’s COVID policies.
“You can walk up and down this block and see why we need a change,” Holmes said. “They are closed businesses. Not good. I’d like to see your smile if I could, so that’s my feeling. “
But no matter who wins, some voters will rejoice when the recall finally ends.
“I think everyone is fed up and tired of politicking. They’re tired of that, ”said Marilyn Horne, another Walnut Creek resident. “Let’s do a little work. Let’s work together. We may have a different opinion, but let’s work together. Is the time. He’s way behind. “
