LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Some neighbors are opposed to a plan to build new playgrounds for middle schools in Lower Merion Township. The school district plans to create them at 1800 W. Montgomery Avenue and 1835 County Line Road.
Neighbors are concerned about safety, traffic congestion, and the environment.
“The felling of 500 mature native trees, they are not singular trees, they are in a wooded environment, it is not to think about the best long-term interest. It’s going to increase asthma, it’s going to eliminate important wildlife habitat, “said neighbor Shawn McMurty.
The district says the plan is to replace the trees that need to be cut down to create the playing fields.
