NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Pending charges against a NYPD officer accused of shooting his ex -girlfriend and killing that woman’s current girlfriend.
The state Attorney’s Office is handling the case because it is considered a shooting involving police, CBS2’s John Dias reported Thursday.
The cellphone video shows Yvonne Wu, 31, being raided by fellow police officers Wednesday night.
Wu, a five-and-a-half-year veteran of the department, was out of work when he shot and wounded his ex-girlfriend and killed 24-year-old Jamie Liang, his ex’s new girlfriend, according to detectives.
The deadly encounter was the community on the sidelines.
“I can not believe. Seriously, ”said one woman.
CBS2 pacified Wu and her ex broke up last month.
“I saw them always together,” said Jeanette Vargas, a neighbor. “Like anyone else, you can go home and find your boyfriend or someone else and you snap. So I don’t think there’s anything to do that he’s a cop.”
Police sources told CBS2 that the deadly encounter may have preceded.
“We believe all three parties will meet,” NYPD Assistant Chief Michael Kemper said.
Sources said Wu waited inside his ex -girlfriend’s house, which they shared at one point. When he returned with Liang, Wu allegedly fired several rounds.
“It’s a very good opportunity this is his weapon in the service,” Kemper said. “One woman, a 24-year-old, was found lying in the living room area and the second woman, a 23-year-old, was found lying on the floor in the bedroom.”
Police said Wu immediately admitted to the shooting.
“I would describe him as calm and together and approachable,” Kemper said.
Police said Wu’s ex -girlfriend was in stable condition, but her injuries were serious.
Sources said Wu and his ex remained in contact, but their post-relationship communication was “confrontational.”
