Shortage of bus drivers in DC region hurts return to pre-pandemic transit levels

Raymond Jackson, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689, which represents employees of Metrobus, DC Circulator, Fairfax Connector, Alexandria’s DASH, Loudoun County Transit and MetroAccess, said transit positions on some local systems are not competitive enough in an economic environment where those with commercial licenses is in high demand.
