Subtle Medical becomes the first partner to welcome Siemens Healthineers aboard their new open Recon¹ interface

The collaboration could impact millions of MRI studies worldwide in a substantial AI partnership in healthcare

MENLO PARK, California., November 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Subtle Medical, a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for medical imaging, and Siemens Healthineers, a leading medical technology company, today announced a partnership to develop Subtle’s SubtleMR™ image enhancement software Medical to be integrated into Siemens Healthineers MRI machines. SubtleMR™ will be included in Siemens Healthineers’ planned reconstruction pipeline, Open Recon. SubtleMR is designed to provide DL (deep learning) post-processing for noise reduction and increased sharpness for most MRI sequences.

This milestone highlights how powerful collaborations are between AI innovators and scanner manufacturers for better imaging.

Siemens Healthineers’ planned Open Recon interface is designed to integrate third-party image reconstruction and post-processing solutions directly into the reconstruction pipeline. This way there is no extra step for exporting images and the results are immediately available on the scanner console. The reconstruction including post-processing with SubtleMR is expected to be selectable in the user interface.

“We are proud to be the first AI technology company to entrust Siemens to Healthineers for their innovative new Open Recon interface,” said Dr. Ajit Shankaranarayanan, Chief Product Officer at Subtle Medical. “This milestone highlights how powerful collaborations are between AI innovators and scanner manufacturers to provide the most robust imaging solutions to healthcare providers and the best possible care to patients around the world.”

Healthcare systems have long strived to be patient-centric, and patients have developed their sense of what a positive experience should be. Artificial intelligence has proven to be a promising tool to improve patient comfort with faster imaging studies and higher quality imaging to support faster and more accurate diagnosis. Subtle Medical’s deep learning-powered SubtleMR™ improves the image quality of accelerated MRI scans, enabling both a better patient experience and a more efficient MRI program. The technology is generalizable to most body parts and sequences. Both companies are looking forward to the new collaboration.

“Our commercial teams couldn’t be happier with this new partnership. The combination of Subtle Medical’s unique AI software tools with Siemens Healthineers’ state-of-the-art MRI scanners will enable radiologists and radiographers to fully realize the clinical and operational benefits of the AI solutions from Subtle Medical worldwide,” said Josh Gurewitz, Chief Commercial Officer at Subtle Medical.

Subtle Medical’s suite of clinically validated AI-powered software solutions, SubtleMR™ and SubtlePET™, increase image capture efficiency by improving the quality of both accelerated and low-dose imaging. Subtle’s solutions are compatible with all scanner models and field strengths, so institutions can see the benefit of their entire scanner fleet. Meet Subtle Medical at RSNA 2021.
