Jakarta, The government is preparing a free and paid vaccination plan for the third dose or booster vaccination for Covid-19.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Erlanga Hartarto, said the vaccine booster or Reinforcement is needed to anticipate whether Indonesia has been attacked by the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This will be calculated in more detail, of course this is necessary to roll back if there is a third wave,” Airlangga said, in a virtual press conference via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, on Monday (27/9/2021).

The booster vaccines covered by the PBI or APBN were administered to 87.4 million people in need of 97.1 doses.

After that, the vaccine will be given for ages 11 and 12 to the 4.4 million people who need 9.9 million doses of the vaccine.

Furthermore, from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget Contribution (APBD), the third non-paying tier beneficiary (PBPU) is 30.2 million people.

“The total vaccine program is 137.2 million,” Airlangga said.

In addition, the government also discussed a paid booster vaccination plan for 93.7 million people.

“The rest will be paid for through paid-for vaccines, in terms of the price of vaccines and some will mature again,” he said.

The plan for implementing the third dose of vaccination was conveyed earlier by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in a meeting with the Ninth Committee of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on Monday (9/13/2021).

Vaccinations, the costs of which are covered by the state budget, will also be given to children who have reached the age of 12. There has been no further announcement of the vaccination of children under 12 years of age.

“We’ll also inject 12-year-olds, 4.4 million. Now, they’re being injected twice, and that’s what the state pays, the state budget,” Bode explained.

Not only that, the government will allocate funds for vaccination to the community, including non-PBPU III workers, which were paid by local governments.

“At a later time, we will allocate funds to the regional government to implement the third dose of vaccination for that,” he added.

Therefore, the plan to administer a third, paid dose of vaccination is not final and is still under discussion.
