Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett described his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as “very important and very good,” stressing that he discussed with him strengthening ties between Cairo and Israel.
“I have just finished my first visit to the Egyptian president… The meeting was very important and very good,” Bennett said in a video clip published by his spokesman for Arab media, Ofir Gendelman, on his official Twitter account.
The Israeli Prime Minister added, “We have laid in the first place the foundations for deepening relations between the two sides in the future.”
“We discussed several issues in the frameworks of diplomacy, security and the economy,” Bennett added, “in addition to deepening relations and strengthening common interests between the two countries.”
The Israeli Prime Minister stressed that peace with Egypt is a cornerstone of Israel’s strategy, which aims to open up to the countries of the region.
