Toyota, Mazda’s US joint venture to hire 1,700 additional employees

Toyota Motor Corp and a joint Mazda Motor Corp plant in Alabama plan to hire an additional 1,700 employees as production ramps up, Companies said on Thursday.

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, which started making 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross, expects total workers to be 4,000 by next year, when production of the as-yet-unannounced Mazda vehicle will also begin.

The joint venture expects to produce 150,000 future Mazda vehicles and 150,000 Toyota crossovers annually.

Last year, Toyota and Mazda increased their investment in the joint venture by $830 million to $2.3 billion.
