A police cordon has been put in place at the top of Whitford Road, where they are expected to remain for the rest of the afternoon.

Two people were injured in a crash in Whitford, in the south Auckland countryside.

Johns ambulance and police were called to the scene at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said one person was seriously injured and taken to Auckland City Hospital, while the other sustained moderate injuries.

Two cars were involved in the accident, and the Serious Collision Unit is investigating the matter.
